LLNL |
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking qualified students who have an interest in spending the 2007 summer at LLNL working on challenging projects within the Hazards Control Department. Enclosed with this letter is a flyer on the Hazards Control Department (HCD) Applied Safety Summer Intern, Scholar & Training Program that provides further information as to eligibility and activities.
A web site is available with more background information. This web site also provides access to an interest form that your students will need to submit no later than February 28, 2007.
Summer intern positions are available in the areas of computational applications development, bio-safety, criticality safety, ergonomics, fire safety, industrial hygiene, industrial safety, radiation safety, and safety education and training. Project opportunities combining hands on applications with technical development are available within all aspects of the applied safety program. The interns are mentored by LLNL Hazards Control staff members and also have opportunities to interact with other laboratory research scientists and engineers and attend facility tours and lectures on highly relevant safety and LLNL research topics. Our interns are encouraged to give poster and/or oral presentations at the end of the summer to showcase their accomplishments and to provide documentation of their work. It is not uncommon for interns to return a second summer after establishing a working relationship with their mentor. We hope you will encourage your undergraduate students who have an interest in applied safety to apply for these summer employment openings.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Debra Kidd either by email kidd9@llnl.gov or at (925) 424-5770. |
